I don’t know about you, but when the windchill is in the negative and snow and ice keep us homebound, my mind drifts to bonfire dreams. Snow is beautiful and I love to watch it fall to the ground. It is magnificent. What I don’t like are the bone chilling temperatures it can sometimes get down to.
Once the threat of frostbite is over, it is always fun to head out with the sleds to the nearest hill. After a few hours of snowy cold fun, it is time to trudge back to the house. Cold, wet outerwear come off and melting snow is quickly mopped up from the floor. Hot water (for tea and hot chocolate) starts bubbling on the stove. The only thing that could make the post snow adventure is a warm sweet treat.
The go to option for my family is the Cast Iron S’more Dip. It is so simple to make, absolutely delicious, and fills my bonfire void.
All you need is:
Small to medium cast iron skillet, bag of chocolate chips (milk or dark per your preference), heavy cream, marshmallows, and graham crackers.
Warm the skillet on the stove at medium heat with the chocolate chips, and two tablespoons of heavy cream. Stir until melted together and smooth. Take off heat and top with the marshmallows. I have used all different sizes of marshmallows. Make sure you cover the top with the marshmallows. Put the skillet in the oven, set to broil…..and pull out as soon as the marshmallows are browned (scorched) to your preference. Serve graham crackers alongside the ooey gooey chocolate marshmallow goodness. It will go fast! So don’t hesitate.
I hope you enjoy this treat as much as my family does!
